Swiss watchmakers Baume et Mercier produce some of the world’s most luxurious watches, with a heritage that stretches back almost 200 years. They sought to bring their expertise in horology to a new audience in 2018, with the creation of "Baume": a brand that values principles of sustainability and personalisation that was to be the entry-level product for a younger target market accustomed to bold messaging. Unique to their proposition was the ability for their customers to create their own custom watches, with a series of up-cycled high-quality components. I was part of the team led by Simon Hughes at Design & Build Co. which took this exciting project to fruition.

A bold new brand, built for millenials

Design & Build Co. meticulously crafted Baume's every touchpoint, ensuring a seamless journey for the user. From the captivating visuals and clear UI to the engaging content and authentic voice, every element fostered a connection with a new audience. Subtle storytelling woven into product pages added depth and emotional resonance, solidifying Baume's unique identity.

Intuitive e-commerce that invites customisation

One of the most distinctive features of the Baume brand was the ability to customise for over 2000 unique outcomes. We created a non-linear customisation experience that encouraged a sense of experimentation and play. This system was also modular, and therefore easily updated over time as the brand expanded its ranges and customisation options.
